Favicon’s mining is a fav-icon. When you open a website, the icon in its address bar is called a favicon. This favicon is known by various names such as… shortcut icon, website icon, tab icon, URL icon, or bookmark icon. This icon is available on all websites. Below is a picture you will easily understand.
Hope you have a general idea, about Favicon. Let’s start with how to add this favicon to your site.
How to Add Favicon Image in Website
Here’s an easy way to add favicon, you don’t need to do any coding, you don’t need to add anything to your root directory, you don’t even need to go to any website, just follow the instructions step by step as I gave below.
To set up a favicon image, you must first log in to your admin panel. After logging in to the admin panel, hold down the mouse cursor in the Appearance section and then click on the Customize option that you will see.
After clicking on the Customize option you will be taken to a new page. Once there, you will click on the option called Site Identity. On some sites, this site identity option is inside the header option, you can see where this site identity is on your site.
After clicking on the Site Identity option, another page will open in front of you. Where you can set up the site title, tagline, logo, and site icon or favicon image. In short, here you can set up your site identity. Follow the image below.
Favicon means site icon. Now you add your site icon. Since I have the image set, the Remove / Chang image is showing. If your site does not have a favicon or site icon, it will show you the add image option.
Now you click on the add image/icon option. After clicking, a new page will open in front of you, from where you can select your image.
Select your image by clicking on the option called upload file.
Once your file is selected, your image will be uploaded automatically.
Once uploaded, you’ll need to reset some settings, which if you don’t do them together, you won’t get that option a second time.
And these settings are very important for your site identity. The setting is not too much of a hassle. I am giving a picture below, the options that you will see in that picture will also be seen on your site, you will only fill in the blanks. I will tell you how to do it one by one.
Suppose your site’s domain name is bloglearning.com. Then in the case of Favicon, your image alt text will be, blog learning.
Suppose, In the case of titles you can write, blog learning site icon.
In the caption, you can name the image you have selected for your site.
Write something about the image you uploaded, or you can use your tagline here.
You don’t have to write anything in the file URL. The URL is set automatically. Let the file URL remain as it is.
Finally see Exclude this image from the sitemap. Absolutely here You will be ticked. Then a sitemap of this favicon image will be generated.
When the above settings are complete, clicking on the Select option will take you to the Image Crop option. When it comes to crop options, you can crop your image. Once your image has been cropped, click on the option called (Crop Image) will complete your image setup.
You do not need to set up anymore. In the case of this favicon. Automatically your favicon image will be set up for different devices. For example, desktop, laptop, mobile. This means there is no need to set up different favicon images for different devices. This one can catch everything in settings.
I hope I can easily explain to you what a favicon image is and how to set it up. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. I will try my best to answer your question correctly. And don’t hesitate to let me know in the comments what you think about this article.
